Sadly – this is not a new scam. It is an old scam. The interns will be hired and required to purchase certain “equipment” using the “company account” which they will be “refunded for” by the
company. But they aren’t really hired. And they are screwed out of the money. And the name of the company is put through the mud. If you Google scams, you will find it. We had a client who had them create fake letterhead, do multiple interviews, etc.
etc. It went on for weeks and weeks – and then the new hires purchased $3500 worth of equipment which never arrived – because it never existed. And the new hires were demanding that the client refund them.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">This is a new one for me. A client has reported that scammers are setting up fake interviews for interns, using emailed flyers with my client's company logo, business address, and
a description of the company and purported "internship". They've had about a dozen calls from people thinking they have job interviews. The flyer notes that they will be paid via the "account they register with payroll" - so I believe that's the ultimate
objective, to access the applicant's bank account. Has anyone dealt with this type of thing, and if so, let me know if you have time to discuss. What a scummy thing to do to people trying to find work.
