HQ, the West Garage across from the federal courthouse. Last
year, there were signs up in the garage about this, noting
that the PTO would no longer be validating parking and it
wouldn\u2019t be employee parking anymore, although even after
that date, receipts from that garage still said \u201cUSPTO\u201d on
them. Maybe they\u2019ll have to get it back.</span></p>

<p>Yes you are right that they discontinued the lease on one of the
two parking garages.</p>
<p>And at this Alexandria HQ, the campus used to be five buildings.
The USPTO let the lease go on two of the five buildings. So now
it is only three buildings.</p>
<p>If everybody who now works from home at the USPTO were to resume
commuting by car to the campus every day, two things would present
themselves:</p>
<ul>
<li>there would not be anywhere close to enough parking places,
and</li>
<li>there would literally not be places for most of the people to
sit.</li>
</ul>
<p>It is true that the campus is nearby to King Street Station on
the Metro. So some fraction of people could commute by Metro.
But that would still not make any difference with the general
challenge that there would not be places where everybody could
sit.<br>
