<div dir="ltr">The Cyrillic rendered in Latin is just what the description says -- Bulgarica. The second character is a surprise to me <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_sign">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_sign</a>   In Russian the letter 
\u042a

is a &quot;hard sign&quot; that turns the preceding letter from its soft palatalized form to a more open tongue, labial form.  But in Bulgarian, in 1945, the letter 
\u042a

was changed from a non-pronounced letter to a vowel sound, close to our schwa 
<span class="gmail-IPA gmail-nowrap" lang="und-Latn-fonipa" title="Representation in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)">/\u0259/</span>
