against nine major law firms that capitulated to executive orders issued by President Trump. (<a href="https://link.edgepilot.com/s/6e512c7a/uE5-fI60C0KO0UkqCFb4zQ?u=https://carolynelefant.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c415dae576d3d706d0444773c%26id=dc6457c972%26e=39a8d39dfe" target="_blank">Click
here</a> to view). The complaint alleges that these firms\u2014rather than challenging the orders in court\u2014entered into agreements to provide nearly $1 billion in legal services to causes aligned with the President\u2019s political agenda, in exchange for avoiding punitive
government action. According to the complaint, these deals undermine core ethical duties by surrendering the firms\u2019 independence, allowing a nonlawyer (the President) to dictate professional judgment, creating unwaivable conflicts of interest, and potentially
constituting bribery or extortion.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p style="margin:0in;word-break:break-word"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p style="margin:0in;word-break:break-word"><span style="font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:black">The firms are further accused of misleading clients and the public by downplaying the impact of these commitments. The complaint asks whether such conduct
violates multiple provisions of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, including Rules 1.7, 5.4, 7.1, and 8.4.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
