<p>What Rachael said. In past cycles when a shutdown happened, the
USPTO somehow had money tucked away somewhere that permitted it to
keep operating for at least 1 or 2 weeks.</p>
<p>Now in 2025 so many things are different about the federal
government. So I am not so sure that it will be the same this
time.</p>

shutdown, starting in December 2018, was the longest
shutdown ever, at 35 days. A couple weeks into that one, the
USPTO released a statement saying the trademark office could
run through April. So at least back then, they had enough
funds to run for about 4 months during a government
shutdown. </div>

now, but I suspect it's still unlikely that they would close
during any upcoming shutdown. </div>
