[Patentcenter] PatentCenter file naming convention issue…

That’s ridiculous.  That means we have to check the file extensions of documents we receive from clients…

(I hide file extensions so I can better/quickly see the file name.)

The problem was the uppercase file extension .PDF, not the uppercase letters in the file name before the file extension.

Could not even upload when the filename was “a” or “1”… I emailed the USPTO included the Deputy Director.  See below.

Wondering if you have any information on the provisional application issues I identified.  Please advise.

Additionally, I just attempted to file an Information Disclosure Statement (IDS) in PatentCenter for 17/209,035 and was unable to because I received a filename in convention in error.  Those on the list served indicated that they were receiving such errors when they used capital letters.  Therefore, I renamed my file with all lowercase letters and still received an error.  I then renamed it to be “1” and then “a”, and both were still rejected.  See below.

Clearly, this file naming problem is critical to being able to use PatentCenter for filings.

I am reporting to EBC via copying EBC on this email.
