<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">For those who use ISA/EP, it is important to know how to set up and use
<br>
an EPO mailbox as the way to receive things such as International Search <br>
Reports and Written Opinions. When the EPO was first setting up this <br>
mailbox system, the only way for a user to authenticate himself or <br>
herself to the mailbox system was by means of an EPO smart card.<br>
<br>
But EPO has gradually been trying to migrate its users away from the use <br>
of the EPO smart card, and over to the newer and more convenient TOTP <br>
(time-based one-time password) form of two-factor authentication (2FA). <br>
The key development is that EPO has picked an end-of-life time for the <br>
EPO smart cards, namely the end of 2024.<br>
<br>
This means that any PCT enthusiast that has been using an EPO smart card <br>
to obtain ISR/WOs, and that has not yet gotten the TOTP 2FA set up, <br>
needs to do so.<br>
