[E-trademarks] New USPTO inpersonation scam

A recent US trademark applicant represented by an attorney received a phone
call from someone inpersonating a USPTO representative and asked the
applicant for a credit card number to pay an additional $250 for his recent
trademark application!

And then the scammer asked him for the last 4 digits of his social security
number.

The scammer socially engineered the applicant by reciting the applicant's
information on the USPTO's database!

The USPTO should update its procedures by issuing simple receipts for
payment of filing fees in addition to the current confirmation emails that
are incomprehensible to the average person.

It would be worse if the USPTO had the home address for this corporate
applicant.

I hope that Pamela Chestek wins her case.
