[E-trademarks] What are you telling your clients ...

A while ago, I raised an issue about goods/services description, and was informed that the PTO
<TmIdSuggest at Uspto> can often reply (accept or not) within a few days. That might permit
your preferred, overcome 2(d), g/s to be used from the ID Manual.

I’ve been telling clients, after 17Jan2025 USPTO fees change, with more uncertainty for objections and
resultant additional government fees. I also suggest for maintenaaace and new applications available
now (before 10Jan2025, consider having us file now.

About the absolutely insane and absurd subcharge that an awful lot of our clients will need to pay to use the freeform g/s field in applications starting next year? And how are you presenting the highly unpredictable “deficiency” amounts in estimates?

(I still can’t believe they’re doing this when it’s basically the only way to avoid a 2(d) refusal in many cases where the broader definition makes no darned sense. Or when the broader category doesn’t include a field option?)
