I could answer that. I have heard that INTA earns about 50% of its annual revenue each year from the Annual Meeting so that is what it lost in 2020 when the pandemic canceled the Annual Meeting. Same for 2022. Consequently, INTA has a huge deficit that it needs to make up for those losses and raising the Annual Meeting fee is one logical way to do that as long as it doesn’t also reduce the total attendance.

I also recall hearing at this years Leadership Meeting that there are now over 4,000 committee members? If that is correct, that is close to a 100% increase from when there used to always be 2500 committee members selected from over 4,000 applications. That might explain why this year’s and last year’s Leadership Meetings set records for attendance. That many more Leadership Meeting fees could be another way INTA is trying to reduce its pandemic deficit.

In 2022 (D.C. Annual Meeting) my registration fee was $1,275 (no extras, like table topics).  For this year’s conference I paid $1,575 during a “flash sale”, also with no extras.  I don’t have the data point of Singapore’s conference, and I wonder what is driving the $300 price increase for the same category of registration.

According to the INTA website, registration opens on January 10. However, unlike previous years, even though I pre-registered (giving INTA a float on my fees), this year, apparently there is no advance hotel registration.

I guess INTA does not want pre-registrations anymore, as they are providing no desired advantages?
