[E-trademarks] Technology Evolution Petition

I’ve filed several Petitions to the Director requesting Amendment Under Section 7 due to technology evolution, so I’ve seen how the process/forms have evolved (heh heh) over time.  I really like that the 5 required statements that we used to have to supply ourselves now are merely checkboxes (although they could be stated better).

What I don’t like is that those statements, which are part of a declaration(!), are nowhere to be seen in the input and text sections during validation, nor do they appear in the email acknowledgment. I think that’s a pretty big oversight – leaving part of a declaration completely missing from the files used for validation. Shouldn’t the text section actually include all of the substantive text that is part of the submission? As the form changes over time, there won’t be any record of what the actual declaration stated, unless we take screen shots while completing the form.

And while I’m griping, if everything else is a checkbox – why not go ahead and make the relief sought a checkbox for a Section 7 amendment, and then set up the rest of the form just like a Statement of Use with boxes for before/after classes/identifications, and fill-in-the-blank spots for a description of the attached specimen(s), and the dates of use?

This could have been such an easy form with barely any re-design required.

Until this is fixed (I know, probably never), I think it might be best to copy and paste those check-box statements into the evidence section so there is a record.
