Most Intellectual Property (IP) is an intangible personal property. Trademark, Copyright, Patent.
Even for USA registered trademarks and copyrights, and granted Patents, the core right is the
intangible.

Anyone know of a case or reputable public report of a dispute or settlement over the IP
certificate? not the intangible IP right, the paper, or digital, certificate.

For recent decades, duplicate USA IP certificates can be purchased, and the information is
publically available.

Alchemy IP. If one had an early Steve Jobs patent certificate with Steve Jobs origina written signature
(autograph) on the document, that would likely become tangible personal property, with some value, assessed
by Antiques Roadshow or expert appraiser.

Some foreign jurisdictions want the original certificate for some purposes, such as maintenance,
but lacking the original, a duplicate can often be purchased.

In assignments or in estate documents, anyone typically recite the certificates (tangibles) as well
as the intangible IP right?

Your comments welcome.
