This morning, 99028710 was updated on Trademark Search. The Prosecution History shows that yesterday, NEW APPLICATION OFFICE SUPPLIED DATA ENTERED.
The changes include:
1.
The deletion of БЪЛГАРИКА as the wordmark entry;
2.
The Mark Drawing Type was changed from 0 - UNKNOWN to 2 - AN ILLUSTRATION DRAWING WITHOUT ANY WORDS(S)/ LETTER(S) /NUMBER(S)
3.
The design code 28.01.25 - Hieroglyphic characters; Inscriptions in other non-Latin characters; Inscriptions in other non-Latin characters, including Hieroglyphic characters was added.
4.
With the Mark Drawing Type update, this trademark is no longer considered to be a standard character mark.
5.
A Public Note was added to the correspondence to explain these changes. (Just kidding. Pre-Exam does not explain their updates to the official record.)
Well, I was expecting design code 28.01.05 - Alpha (Greek letter); Cyrillic characters (Russian); Greek characters; Inscriptions in Greek and Cyrillic characters; Omega (Greek letter); Russian characters (Cyrillic) for this application, I will miss having БЪЛГАРИКА as the wordmark entry, particularly since the applicant did not include БЪЛГАРИКА in the transliteration statement provided, and I wish that I could review the filing receipt that was mailed for the application on Saturday.

Subject: [E-trademarks] Try Not To Laugh! 99028710 - БЪЛГАРИКА (A Standard Character Mark)
Introducing 99028710, the standard character mark БЪЛГАРИКА filed 5 February 2025.
[previously viewed Image for 99028710, select for more details]
Mark Literal Elements:
БЪЛГАРИКА
Standard Character Claim:
Yes. The mark consists of standard characters without claim to any particular font style, size, or color.
Mark Drawing Type:
4 - STANDARD CHARACTER MARK
Transliteration:
The Bulgarian characters in this mark transliterate to BULGARICA and this has no meaning in a foreign language.
Based on this new application, I must conclude that the new Trademark Center electronic application system does NOT check that the characters submitted for a standard character mark actually occur on the USPTO's standard character list.
I fully recommend that you open the raw application on TSDR and view the 5 pages of the application. Then tell me the proper pronunciation of this standard character mark! My Bulgarian is more than just a little bit rusty. ;-}
Happy Presidents' Day Holiday,
Ken Boone
