[E-trademarks] Deadline for filing a notice of appeal

I want to make sure I have this right, so the wisdom of the listserv is appreciated:

Once I file a notice of appeal to a final office action I cannot file an extension request to file the request for reconsideration. Therefore, it is best to first file the extension request. Once that is granted, the deadline for filing the notice of appeal is also extended by 3 months.

I cannot recall where I saw it, but the gist of it was that the 3 month extension to file the request for reconsideration does not change the deadline for filing the notice of appeal. That doesn't make sense, but I wanted to confirm with you all.

Thanks!
