[E-trademarks] options for unintentionally missed DL

Good evening. Wondering if anyone has dealt with situation where applicant received final refusal, submitted RFR within the DL, did not file extension due to personal health situation, did not file appeal. Shortly after the 3 month DL has passed, examiner issued letter continuing the refusal. Ideally applicant would have taken additional bites at the apple, filing additional RFRs.  The mark will now go abandoned. Curious if anyone has encountered this situation, and whether the notice of abandonment will provide the usual 2 months to revive or applicant is out of options. TY
