[E-trademarks] CREDIT CARD OUTAGE

Recall that on Tuesday, I noted that the Trademark Search update for Monday via the search UD:20251020 returned zero results - that most new applications filed on Sunday did not appear on Trademark Search as of Tuesday. Today, only 11 of 484 new Sunday applications that I see on TSDR appear on Trademark Search.

Mr. Butterman, I'm curious. Does your very early Sunday morning application (presumably with a serial number of 99450611 to 99451112) appear on Trademark Search? Case in point, the search FD:20251019 AND AT:Butterman fails to retrieve any Sunday applications with Butterman in the attorney of record field.

Perhaps your Sunday application is one of the 472 new Sunday applications that I see on TSDR but NOT on Trademark Search.

Yes – very early Sunday morning I filed a new application after the client’s signed copy email was received and I did not receive the confirmation page that immediately follows payment and contains a link to download a pdf filing receipt. Fortunately, I did receive the emailed copy of the filing receipt within seconds of the filing and I had a serial number which I plugged into TSDR right then and saw the application come up so I was not overly concerned about the filing having been received at the USPTO. But I think that is relevant to what you are asking.

It's possible that [whatever the situation may be] is more complicated than a credit card outage because:

1) I filed something on Monday afternoon / evening

2) I was able to enter credit card information

3) I pressed Submit

4) No filing receipt was issued

5) Credit card transaction history shows payment was made

6) Financial Manager records at the USPTO show a serial number was issued

7) no record of the filing has yet appeared in the online database

I'd be curious to know if anybody else filed anything on Monday but did not receive a filing receipt?

Sincerely,

I called the Trademark Assistance Center this morning.

TAC confirmed the “financial link” on the main trademark application forms has been having issues since 3:30 PM yesterday.

They are working to correct.

I am curious how long the hold time was to reach a human being at the TAC.
