[Patentcenter] document description error message deferred past three screen moves (was QPIDS filing in Patent Center)

Hi Carl,

Yes, I think it is close enough to CP28 that it does not need a new trouble ticket. At the core it is the same problem that Patent Center does not gripe promptly about the lack of a document description and allows the user to proceed to the next screen.

In my QPIDS experience the problem was even more inscrutable because Patent Center never indicated that the problem was lack of document description. I only figured it out through trial and error.

Can you please look at ticket number CP28<https://patentcenter-tickets.oppedahl.com/#CP28> and see if this is the same as the bug you are describing?

I just filed my first QPIDS request. Hopefully, it will be changed soon so that non-practitioners can file (or at least start and save) QPIDS requests.

I found what appears to be a bug. Shocking.

When filing the QPIDS request, I included an IDS coversheet document that includes comments and disclaimers about the IDS. This is something a particular client wants us to file.

Patent Center did not automatically assign a document description to this document. I proceeded without giving this document a document description. I clicked the "Submit & Pay" button. Patent Center displayed a spinning icon and seemed to proceed. However, it did not proceed to the payment page, and it did not file the QPIDS request. There was no error indication let alone an explanation that the issue was a lack of document description. I added the document description "Transmittal Letter" to the IDS coversheet. Then the submission proceeded without problem.

Patent Center should be fixed to expressly indicate an error when a user tries to proceed without giving all the documents a document description. The error message should indicate that the problem is lack of a document description.
