Leigh T has an excellent idea. The challenge will be to do it in a way that’s not too time-consuming or violates client confidences.

If we do this, the key is to get the info and a proposed solution to someone who will do something about it since the USPTO won’t. May I suggest we talk to our respective senators, as Leigh T suggested, to propose a “tech surge” that was used to fix the debacle rollout of healthcare.gov? In the past I have sometimes tried to do something like this simply by looking at the listserv postings.

But yes I will try to set up some very simple reporting log system.  Thank you for this idea.

It might help to be able to show/document that numerous people are having issues,

rather than those issues being viewed as individual anecdotes.

A log might include time wasted, what the USPTO did or didn't do to help mitigate,

and estimated cost (if people were willing to share that).

Not that the PTO cares, but maybe Sen. Tillis or others might use the information

in approaching the PTO to ask for improvements on behalf of stakeholders.

There is something badly wrong with the USPTO's hosting of DNS:

There are ways to do DNS in a very reliable fashion.  And they do not cost a lot of money.  But the USPTO probably contracted this out to somebody incompetent.
