[Patentcenter] FW: USPTO Glitch with ID.me

Forwarding this from the EFS-Web listserv, since this deserves broader exposure. A "deployment glitch" that could let an unrelated party take over my account in PatentCenter is very concerning, particularly given the PTO's recent notice that they're adding id.me verification to PatentCenter.

Good morning.

I just wanted to relay this information as a bit of a caution.

I was working in Patent Center on Thursday. All of a sudden, my login name changed on my screen (just randomly to someone unknown to me or the firm).  I spent an hour speaking with the EBC and we determined that it was something to do with ID.me.  I explained that I am not registered with ID.me, and that I am not a TM filer. I explained that I urgently needed this unknown person's name removed form my account. I was told that I would receive a call back in an hour. I heard nothing.  In the meantime, I could not use Patent Center for obvious reasons.

I contacted the EBC again first thing Friday morning with another urgent plea.  I was informed by the EBC "We noticed your account has been attached with ID.me yesterday, we have un-verified it, due to a small glitch during our deployment, you may have encountered an issue". This took until 5.54 pm EST to be rectified.

I am sharing this information so that you may keep an eye on your account as I am not sure if this "deployment glitch" has been fixed for everyone.
