Thank you, Tim. That’s what we ended up doing, and crossing our fingers that we don’t end up needing to get a corrected filing receipt.
I love how they give us nice new things (like the second option) and then they don’t work. It’s like when I used to get “collectible” toys when I was a kid and wasn’t allowed to take them out of the box 😉

Ashley, I think this is a species of the same issue I had in September. It refused to allow either the uploaded ADS or the web ADS if I used the proper priority. The agent first suggested I use EFS (I pointed out (i) that would mean starting over and (ii) what was he going to say

The EBC had the following unhelpful response: “I would like to let you know that I highly suggest you select the third option for no ads or attach ads. If you have any questions, please give us a call back.”
As mentioned in previous threads, if we use the third option then we have to manually input what could be a lot of data and the potential for error increases. I replied to the EBC asking specifically what “OK” means, but I don’t expect a response.

I’ve also gotten that weird message before – I usually detach the document and reattach it, figuring something was wrong (size, embedded font, etc.) since the pulldown on the right of the document doesn’t give any options except to remove the document. It usually works the second time; if not, I reprint to PDF to make sure it’s flattened and then reattach, and then it works fine. I think somebody hiccupped when planning that error message and they forgot to go back and fix it. Whatever. As usual, it’s up to us to figure out how to work within the USPTO’s weird set-ups. Somehow we make it work.

I've had that notice before, usually when I uploaded something to a saved submission. I don't know what it means either. The red X plus the OK gives rather mixed messages. I ended up logging out & back in, and the second time I uploaded I didn't get that message.
Next time I may test submitting it with the OK sign, but this was an application and I didn't want to end up with problems if it meant something wasn't being properly recognized by the system.

In a previous and unrelated discussion, I noted that the PTO is limiting the assignee name to 50 characters.
I also noted that I have at least 3 clients with names longer than 50 characters.
I suggest you check the length of the assignee name.

Hi Randall - No. The screenshot of the error I posted below was the only bit of information it gave me. I assume maybe it was one of the foreign addresses, but the fields in the ADS form itself took the full address so why would uploading it be an issue? The addresses weren’t all that excessively long. I’ve filed longer addresses in the past, so I have no idea.
I will play with it more when I get a few minutes to see if I can work out whatever caused the issue. I’ll touch base if I find anything. I just didn’t have the time to sort out the USPTO’s random non-helpful errors this morning. 😊

Good morning all – I can’t recall if we came across this issue and had a fix yet, so my apologies if this is a repeat issue. I uploaded a USPTO Application Data Sheet form and got the following error pasted below. What does that mean? The ADS has its own internal character limit on addresses and such and everything seems to be in order. I don’t know what that error could mean or how to begin to rectify the issue. If anyone has info that would be great. Otherwise, I guess I will load it under the “No ADS and Attached ADS “ option and pray they don’t mess it up. There are quite a few inventors with foreign addresses for this one. Maybe that is the issue? Regardless, foreign addresses should work in the ADS without issue.

I wish the errors provided would give helpful insight as to what the specific problem is with the document. It basically just says, “you have an issue, good luck”. It wastes so much time with trial and error trying to read their minds.
