[E-trademarks] An Annoying TESS Beta Search: LD:true NOT (GS:* SN:89* SN:81*)

Here's a Beta search that retrieves 51 annoying hits.

LD:true NOT (GS:* SN:89* SN:81*)

First, throwing away the 56 hits in the 81 series (that SN:81* part of the search) should NOT be necessary since those hits are actually dead. Well, that particular nuisance supposedly will be resolved next year when the USPTO retires TRAM next year. Can't hardly wait.

Back to that actual Beta search, three (3) of the hits are Madrid filings, where all 3 have GS text on TSDR and all 3 have the TSDR status date of 10 Nov 2023. Huh? So why didn't the 11 Nov update to Beta load the GS text that is clearly evident on TSDR? Or the 12 Nov update? Or today's update?

The bulk of the other 48 hits are relatively new TEAS filings that presumably are still be processed by Pre-Exam. Well, that's my best guess - that the initial loads of new TEAS filings are far from completely successful. Then again, Pre-Exam can take up to 9 months to complete their initial processing without impacting examination, right?

On the other hand, consider the following TESS Current session summary.

No. Search Terms Documents
S1 live[ld] not (IC US GS)[GS] 28
S2 "NO GOODS/SERVICES STATEMENT ON TRAM"[GS] not (dead[ld] 8900$[SN]) 28
S3 s1 s2 56

This TESS session accounts for 56 of the 69 marks currently retrieved by my strategy for identifying live marks without any active GS entries.

The first search of that session is similar to the initial Beta search of this posting.

The second search, like my search strategy for identifying live marks with no active classes, will soon be retired, as Beta supports neither (a) identifying active classes via GS text searches or (b) searching GS entries without text for the ID (like the pesky 89-series records) by flagging such GS entries with the phrase NO GOODS/SERVICES STATEMENT ON TRAM as performed on TESS Current but not on TESS Beta.

Happy Beta TESSing,
Ken Boone
