[E-trademarks] specimen sufficiency?

Client has provided a specimen in which the (graphic) mark is the background on a CD (for non-downloadable software).  However, since there is a hole in the center of the CD the mark as filed is, arguably, not  represented in full.   Has anyone had success submitting a specimen in such situation in this manner?
