[E-trademarks] My "Live But No Active Classes" Search

The search LD:true NOT (GS:* SN:89*) currently retrieves 2,760 live trademarks without GS text entries, ignoring the 89-series trademarks.  Most (but not all) of these trademarks are relatively new applications. Since last Fall, when the USPTO began loading new applications overnight following the initial receipt of the application, the magnitude of this missing GS text phenomenon has grown.  Evidently, the initial load of newly received applications consistently fails to include the GS text for some applications essentially daily.  For example, the search FD:[20241201 TO 20241204] AND LD:true NOT (GS:* SN:89*) retrieves 52 new TEAS applications filed this week (Sunday - Wednesday) that currently have no GS text on Trademark Search, yet viewing the raw TEAS applications on TSDR confirms GS text was included but that USPTO processing failed to include that GS text in the official record (or perhaps the GS text included some key terms that prompts some review of that GS text before loading the text into the official record?). Similarly, the search SN:79* AND UD:20241129 AND LD:true NOT (GS:* SN:89*) retrieves 73 new Madrid applications received last Thursday that currently have no GS text, again apparently all failures with the initial USPTO processing.

The search SN:81* AND LD:true NOT (GS:* SN:89*) retrieves 56 older 81-series registrations without GS text, except TSDR reports the registration cancelled as inadvertently issued status for most/all of these trademarks, as these were among the live/dead mismatches between TESS and the beta version of Trademark Search that I reported last Fall.  Apparently, the USPTO has either no interest or no ability to correct the status of these dead 81-series registrations on Trademark Search. (I currently see 11 other live trademarks on Trademark Search but appear as dead {or don't exist} on TSDR.)

Returning to the actual subject of this posting, here's my search for live trademarks with GS text but having no active classes.

Today, that search retrieves 30 trademarks (22 registrations and 8 pending applications).  I suspect the last 3 lines (for classes A, B and 200) may need additional refinement.  The GS3:(us\ 0* us\ 1*) of the first line is meant to exclude older live trademarks filed using US classifications as the primary classification, a possible defect of this search, though I often delete that portion of the search since it currently does NOT impact the search results. Lines 2 through the next-to-last could be performed independently and included as back-references, except since Trademark Search does NOT include a multi-search feature, I abandoned the back references search theme, instead performing a single search via copy/paste. (Too bad, as reviewing the hit counts for those 48 searches might be useful {e.g., suppose you wanted to count the total number of active classes for live trademarks}.)

I'm guessing that you didn't realize Trademark Search could handle a search of over 4,000 characters.

PS - The search SN:(89001459 89001455 89001449) retrieves 3 marks with the € (Euro) character in the wordmark, except the wordmark for 89001455 is displayed as

with Trademark Search failing to display the first character € of the wordmark.  Curiously, the search WD:( *€* ) AND LD:true fails to retrieve 89001455, plus TSDR hiccups on the € in the wordmark,

plus TSDR doesn't display the € in the design description of design code 24.17.05.

Besides 89001455, I am aware of a few additional € trademarks that are NOT retrieved by the WD:( *€* ) AND LD:true search. I'd appreciate an explanation of these € search/display hiccups.  Then there's the standard character mark YOLANDE€KOK, except the wordmark is YOLANDEEUROKOK with that wonderful EURO for € substitution that TEAS used to perform for occurrences of € in wordmark entries.  I am aware a few other live trademarks with the EURO for € substitution, and I hope the TEAS folks have turned off that wonderful EURO for € substitution in wordmark entries.

The search WD:*ß* AND LD:true retrieves 149,529 trademarks, same as the search WD:*SS* AND LD:true - that the search engine for Trademark Search equates the character ß with the character pair SS. Most of the 149,529 trademarks retrieved by the two searches have the SS character pair, not just the single ß character.  So how do you TURN OFF that ß = SS search equivalence to retrieve just the ß trademarks?  In the TESS days, we could use the Decimal Mark [DM] search field - that the search  223[DM] would retrieve only trademarks with at least one occurrence of ß in the wordmark.  While the WD:*ß* AND LD:true search is dominated with SS hits, I did find an actual ß trademark, namely 79154293, the standard character mark GNEUß.  I'm sure there are others.
