[E-trademarks] Trademark assignment form in Assignment Center

Why do they need the info if it’s not public and they aren’t going to communicate with the assignees?  And of course, we should we trust them not to make it publicly available?

Update: I talked to the Ass. Center helpdesk -- was told "Trademarks made Assignments" change that "receiving party" email field from optional to mandatory. Hmm, any legal basis for that, I wonder?
Also was told that the email address is not displayed on the public cover sheets, and that Assignments will communicate -- as it should -- with the address provided for the Correspondent.
So it does not appear to matter very much.

Is providing the receiving party’s email address a new requirement?  I don’t remember having to provide that the last time I filed a trademark application.  Above the box it says, “Adding an email address is very helpful,” but is now mandatory before moving to the next page.
