[E-trademarks] USPTO Expanding The Trademark Character Set?!?!?

This morning, I found another one, namely 98653430, filed 17 July 2024.  The mark is КАТЫК, except those are 5 Cyrillic letters, so USPTO processing naturally added ????? as the word mark.  (I wonder if the wordmark could be manually updated to КАТЫК since TM Search and TSDR both apparently now can handle Cyrillic letters.)  Some additional information via TSDR:

Description of Mark:    The mark consists of КАТЫК simple word consisting of 5 Cyrillic letters.
Translation:      The English translation of КАТЫК in the mark is kefir (fermented milk drink).
Transliteration:  The non-Latin characters in the mark transliterate to I and this means "I" letter in English.
For:  Kefir          International Class(es):      029 - Primary Class     U.S Class(es):    046
Class Status:     ACTIVE         First Use:  Jan. 01, 2021     Use in Commerce:  Jan. 01, 2021

Having found this Cyrillic term, I naturally submitted the following search CM:( *К* *А* *Т* *Ы* ) of the 5 Cyrillic characters in the CM search field.  Besides this new КАТЫК application, guess how many other trademarks were retrieved by that wildcard search of those 5 Cyrillic characters.  (No, none of those additional hits are old enough to be under examination yet.)

As you may have guessed, I found КАТЫК by searching recently updated trademarks with at least 3 consecutive question marks in the wordmark entry.  By chance, that search criterion allowed me to revisit 79372560, the mark consisting of the stylized wording "TOI TOI" in white placed inside a rounded blue rectangle above a red rectangle, except ??? ??? is the USPTO wordmark entry.  I added this trademark to my list of questionable wordmark entries over a year ago.  This application now is under examination, though the word mark still has not been corrected.  The XSearch Search Summary<https://tsdr.uspto.gov/documentviewer?caseId=sn79372560&docId=XSS20231202191220&linkId=6> performed by the examining attorney lasted 3 days 24 minutes 42 seconds, but that examiner couldn't spare 2 minutes to correct the wordmark entry that would have been corrected on TSDR and TM Search while that multi-day search session was active.  So it goes.

Changing the search field to DE - Description of Mark expanded the hit list to 12 trademarks, all recent TEAS filings.

I noticed a few non-standard characters on Trademark Search and TSDR today.

For 98628636,

the word mark is SAINT ?????.

On TSDR, the following is displayed as the translation statement.

The English translation of ἀρετή in the mark is excellence.

Curiously, the search TL:ἀρετή retrieves this trademark. Surprise!

So ἀρετή is acceptable text for the translation statement but not for the word mark?  (Well, the USPTO would prefer to convert ἀρετή to UPPER CASE characters.)

For the raw application on TSDR, following is the translation statement.

The English translation of ????? in the mark is excellence.

Sadly, the Trademark Search summary page displays neither the translation statement nor the description of mark.

For 98566492,

the word mark is ??? ?????.

On TSDR, following is the mark information.

Description of Mark:    The mark consists of the hebrew letters אור התורה without claim to any particular font or style.
Translation:      The English translation of אור התורה in the mark is light of torah.

Curiously, the search TL:"אור התורה" retrieves this trademark.  Same for the DE:"אור התורה" search.
