That is correct, at least how we tested it. They did have our attorney and law firm information saved for easy reproduction in a new application and I thought they might be permitting templates to be set up but I didn’t experience that with the beta test.

Actually, when I first got into the beta test, the form was limited to just preparing an ITU TEAS+ equivalent (needing to use ID Manual IDs). They expanded the application options later on to include 1a and Section 44 applications but, like Miriam, I was already frustrated with the slowness of the application, needing to read through a lot of explanatory material, combined with the inability to save and retrieve a draft application so I never tested the more capable forms.

I did a 1:1 telephone focus group call with the later version of the form and that allowed the explanatory material to be hidden but the form was still spread out across a lot of screens. The print was very large too so I guess it could be targeted to more senior people. I’m not recalling other aspects of the process that stood out to me.

Do you mean there’s no option to save an .obj file? If so, that’s a huge oversight and massive inconvenience.

I volunteered to be a beta tester of it. As I recall, I was not very impressed with it as a practitioner because the new application form seemed targeted to non-attorneys with too much explanatory material and pretty much only one section per screen. The biggest drawback that stopped me from using it was that there is no option to save the data one inputs and go back to it later or to have a paralegal draft the application and share the draft with me. .

Oh and by the way, maybe I missed it, but I do not recall having seen even a hint or suggestion of the Commissioner asking the membership of our listserv what, if anything, we think is broken in TEAS that needs to be fixed in this new TC, nor do I recall having seen even a hint or suggestion of the Commissioner asking the membership of our listserv what new features, if any, we wished to see added in this new TC.

See https://blog.oppedahl.com/commissioner-for-trademarks-responds-to-the-fifty-four-trademark-practitioners/ in which Fifty-Four Trademark Practitioners wrote to Commissioner Gooder on August 7, 2021 asking for some improvements in TEAS, particularly in the area of character-count limitations in various fields. In October of 2021, Commissioner Gooder promised that we would get all of our "asks" from that letter. When the beta version gets released, I am confident it will turn out that Commissioner Gooder will have kept that promise.

Trademark Center is coming soon
We’ve been working on Trademark Center, a new system designed to improve your filing experience. This summer, you’ll be able to use the beta version of Trademark Center to apply to register your trademark.

You’ll have the option to apply to register your trademark in either Trademark Center or the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) for six months. The cost to file remains the same in both systems.

Given the disasters of Patent Center and Assignment Center, I feel that I can predict with very high confidence that this new "Trademark Center" will likewise be a disaster.
