[E-trademarks] Job Platforms Allowing Scam "Recruiters"

We have found WhatsApp to be pretty responsive in shutting down fraudster
accounts so long as we provide screenshots showing the abuse. Try
ip at whatsapp.com

Telegram is a different story. I’d be curious to know if anyone has managed
to shut down fraudulent accounts on their platform.

Janice,

This is what I was referring to in my initial response.  We have taken down
many fake job listings across social media platforms and job recruiting
sites and have even litigated successfully against some of the fraudsters.
Sadly, WhatsApp is completely unhelpful and doesn’t even have a formal
abuse reporting channel.

this is different--  there is no domain name issue.  The use is from job
platforms (and then they switch to WhatsApp).

over to us.

Hi Janice:

We recently managed to get a domain registrar to deactivate such a
scammer’s domain name, namely the one they were emailing prospective
victims from.  It was similar to our client’s domain.  We made a fraud
complaint and it was taken care of quickly.  Of course, that means you have
to know what domain they are using.

We’ve admittedly not tried to go after fake postings on job platforms.

UPWORK) removing a poster who is using a client’s trademarks (and
copyrighted material) to “recruit” contractors?  (The scam is centered
around requiring the Applicant to pay a fee to get work.)
