Paul,
Definite tangent here to the main point, but there is a way to view office actions and TTAB documents on iOS devices, though it’s a bit of a kludge. For TTAB files:
1. In SAFARI, Go to TTABVUE and open the matter, then select the document you want to see. It brings up the doc where you can only see the first page.
2. Staying in SAFARI, put your finger on the screen in the document until a set of options come up. Select “Share”
3. When the various options are displayed, select “Open in Chrome” if you have Chrome installed.
4. Chrome should then launch and show you the entire document in a new tab.
This also works if you follow a link from an email to an office action. With OAs you can also use the download button in the upper right hand corner to download the file and then view it using a PDF viewer; unfortunately, TTABVUE does not have that option. I have tried pulling up TTABVUE in Chrome first, but I still can't view past the first page, and pressing on the screen doesn't bring up the "share" option as it does in Safari.

While I do this often, I do occasionally have the need to use my iPad, a mobile device. And this could be useful for filing documents after the client has signed them before I file the document, if I am not in my office. However, what would be really convenient is to be able to easily view TSDR documents from mobile devices, rather than having to run to a real computer to take a look at the latest office action.

I asked a trademark examining attorney one time what their estimate was on the number of applications they process that are from experienced trademark attorneys, rather than pro se or the passing lawyer who does applications as part of their general practice. I suspect that this feature is not, in fact, intended for trademark attorneys, but for the 15% of U.S. adults who are smartphone-only internet users - who have a smartphone, but do not have home internet access. This is seen most commonly in adults with an annual income of $30,000 or less.
Seems like it would be nice if they could file a trademark application too, even if they don't have access to a computer, yes?

This summer, the USPTO launched the beta version of our brand-new Trademark Center. For six months, we’ve offered the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) and Trademark Center initial applications in parallel and used your valuable feedback to refine the new application.
On January 18, 2025, we will retire the TEAS initial application forms. Until then, you have the option to file your new application in either Trademark Center or TEAS. The cost to file remains the same in both systems.
