I do it all the time.  If its WIPO, just use the Standard Settlement Form. I would also select the “without prejudice” option in case there is any funny business.

UDRP Rule 17 (“Settlement or Other Grounds for Termination”) provides a process for transfers as you describe, without having to wait for a decision.  Typically, both parties sign the UDRP provider’s settlement form and submit it to the provider, which then instructs the registrar to transfer the domain name within two business days.

I don’t routinely handle UDRP actions but took one on for a pro bono client and, somewhat strangely, we got an offer from the registrant to transfer the domain after the registrant got notice of the action.  The registrar has locked the domain pursuant to the initiation of the action, so presumably the registrant can’t generate a transfer authorization code, so we just need to see through the UDRP process and get the resulting transfer (assuming we win).

Do any of the UDRP/domain name gurus on this listserv (I see you Marc and Doug) have other thoughts about safe ways to obtain the transfer sooner?
