Hi, Warren

I would call the SPE and ask if he knows what the holdup is. The case might have been flagged for quality review. How soon after the Notice of Allowance was issued did you pay the Issue Fee? I'm assuming it was pretty quick.

Subject: [Patentpractice] Payment not verified

Does anybody know what "Payment not verified" means at the USPTO after paying an issue fee?

Our firm paid the issue fee on a patent application on June 7 (nine weeks ago), and received the Electronic Payment Receipt indicating that the payment was made. I have also verified that correct amount of money was deducted from our credit card account for the transaction at that time. The status at Patent Center web page is given as "Issue Fee Payment Received."

As the patent has not yet issued, I called the USPTO to investigate why the delay. (This is a track 1 application, and the client is quite anxious to receive the epatent.) I was informed that "We show that the payment was made, but is not yet verified." The person in the application assistance unit was unable to tell me what this means, or why, after nine weeks, the payment is "not yet verified." After calling around many offices there (Office of Finance, Receipts Accounting, EBusiness Center, etc.), I can find no answer.

Has anybody run across this issue before?
