[Patentpractice] Let's try to collect all of our Assignment Center bugs

That’s great! Hopefully the discussion will be productive.

Two gripes for Assignment Center:

  * Providing email address for receiving party shouldn’t be required.
  * List of entity types aren’t alphabetically organized, which makes it inefficient to sort through all the types, both US and foreign.
  * Property being assigned should be provided at the beginning of the process, instead of at the end. Sometimes the patent property isn’t yet recognized at the end of the process, but the uploader has already gone through the effort of specifying all the other assignment data (I know that’s not such a big deal because the draft is saved and sometimes the party data has also been saved)

Best regards,

Katherine

Subject: [Patentpractice] Let's try to collect all of our Assignment Center bugs

I imagine some may have read my blog article from yesterday entitled USPTO fails to let me know that it fixed a defect that I reported in Assignment Center<https://blog.oppedahl.com/uspto-fails-to-let-me-know-that-it-fixed-a-defect-that-i-reported-in-assignment-center/>.

I am not exactly sure whether yesterday's blog post had anything to do with it, but just now a phone call came in from a person who answers to Joyce R. Johnson, who is the manager of the Assignment Branch. He has offered to spend some time with me reviewing the various defects in Assignment Center.

This strikes me as a perfect time to try to collect in one place all of our Assignment Center bugs.

I guess maybe post them to this listserv, and I will try as best I can to collect them for the discussion with this fellow.

Oh and I guess the other thing is, it would be good to get at least one more person from the patent community involved in the discussion, for a lot of reasons. Volunteers welcome.

Carl
