Well, you have 5 months unless otherwise limited by statute. Not aware
of a statutory limit for this -- 35 CFR 1.835 indicates it's just made
up by the office, so it's nonstatutory. The notice specifically cites
1.136a which says you can by default extend 5 months.
Maybe the abandonment was generated by DOGE AI in order to help reduce
the examination backlog?
