[E-trademarks] Corsearch sending takedown notices for TM infringement: How is this not UPL?

Yes, I agree.

Not only that.  Let's just imagine, I know this is far-fetched, but 
suppose your client had already used Corsearch's services, maybe for a 
trademark clearance.  In such a case, it seems to me that Corsearch 
would be violating a conflict of interest.
