[E-trademarks] USPTO Fees Federal Register Notice - Unpublished PDF Version

The Supreme Court has been pretty clear -- if you file an application on
January 17, and the PTO identifies the complaint after, the PTO can't apply
the new rule to a past completed transaction.  You are entitled to rely on
the law as it stands on the date of you complete your transaction.

In this area, as in so many others, the PTO's view is that the law can go
to hell.  The examiner will apply the law as it stands on the day the
examiner does the work, not the law as it stood when you did your work.

So if you are willing to fight a $100 fee up through the Federal Circuit, I
will help you.  But in the real world, start adjusting your practice now.
