You mean like the address book ePCT provides? That’s not possible, since that’s a not-invented-here feature.

I cannot believe they didn't fix that idiocy with the "/" in the application number. And if you try the number with a "/" in it, does the error message say, "Oh, hey, you're not allowed to have a '/' in there"? No. It says it cannot find the property.

Their own electronic acknowledgment receipts include the slash, but apparently it's too much for the USPTO to allow a copy-paste of the number from the EAR to the assignment system. Why help customers avoid errors? What kind of patent office does that?!

This times a million. It would be trivial to process input to remove slashes and commas, or add slashes and commas as necessary. For an application, there are really only three general formats: XX/YYY,ZZZ; XX/YYYZZZ; XXYYYZZZ.

I have yet to file an assignment with the new system. My initial hope was that they were going to expand the “templates” to a full-blown address book, so you can save information for parties for later selection as either an assignee or an assignor in a given assignment. I can’t believe I was so silly in thinking that.

 - Mike.
