[Patentpractice] "Patrick" Ombudsman strikes again

I filed a Track 1 application earlier this year, and the petition was
granted a little over a month ago. The application still hasn't been
assigned to an examiner, so I started to worry that it had been routed to
the "regular" queue instead of the Track 1 queue.

First I e-mailed the AAU (twice, no answer), and then I e-mailed the
Ombudsman's office.

Here is the response I received this morning from "Patrick, Patent Ombuds":

"For this application the Track 1 fees wasn't paid, nor the paperwork was
submitted for the Track 1."

Hard to see how this response could be less helpful or less accurate (or
less grammatical), as even a cursory review of the file history would
indicate. Also, I bit the bullet this morning before receiving "Patrick's"
reply and called the AAU. The agent said the administrative cuts have
slowed everything down, and he confirmed that the application is Track 1
and will be processed as such.

I have an idea for a cut the USPTO could make and lose absolutely nothing:
"Patrick, Patent Ombuds."
